apel application guide
Go to MQA APEL portal and click 'Create New Account'. Fill in your name, IC/Passport number, email address and click 'Register'.
You will receive an email from unitapel@mqa.gov.my with a verification code. Copy the code and click on the 'Activate' link.
To activate, provide your email address, the verification code and new password in the form fields, and click 'Activate'.
To login, key in your IC/Passport number and password.
Complete and save your profile after signing in. Then click on the 'APEL.A Application' tab to start filling up your details.
From the APEL Assessment Center dropdown menu, choose MSU.
Complete your application by clicking 'Confirm'.
You will receive an email from unitapel@mqa.gov.my.
To continue with the registration process, you are required to make another APEL application on MSU portal within 21 days from the date of this application.
Go to MSU APEL portal by clicking apela.msu.edu.my provided in the confirmation email and click 'New Register'.
Complete the 'New User Registration' form, and then log in to your account using your IC number.
Click 'Application' and select 'Application & Self Assessment', to start filling in the required information in all the tabs.
Next, you will be directed to the 'self-declaration tab' to submit your application.
After completing the 'self-declaration tab', you will be directed to the 'Finance' page where you can make online payment for your application fee.
Make sure to download the payment receipt.
After a successful payment, upload (3) required documents: IC copy (both sides), passport size photo, and payment receipt.
Proceed to the 'Self-Declaration' tab and click 'Submit' to complete your application.
Your application will undergo a verification process, which may take approximately 7 working days.
Please ensure that you provide an active email address in your application form as you will receive notifications via email.

APEL is a process that evaluates and recognises an individual's prior learning experiences, knowledge, skills and competencies gained outside of traditional educational settings.
APEL evaluates prior learning from work, volunteering, self-study and non-formal activities to determine credit or recognition for educational qualifications.
If you have job experience but are lacking in traditional academic credentials, you can use them to qualify for our university programmes through APEL.A.
Master’s (T-7), Bachelor’s (T-6), Diploma (T-4), Certificate (T-3)
Malaysians that possess relevant work experience.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR:
i. Programme at Master’s Level (by Coursework)
• at least 30 years of age in the year of application;
• possess at least STPM/Diploma/equivalent qualifications
ii. Programme at Bachelor’s Level
• more than 21 years of age in the year of application
iii. Programme at Diploma Level
• more than 20 years of age in the year of application
iv. Programme at Certificate Level
• more than 19 years of age in the year of application

APEL.C helps you fast-track your studies and graduate earlier. You can apply for relevant informal and non-formal experiences to be evaluated for extra credit through APEL.C assessment.

Malaysian Applicants
The maximum percentage of credit transfer through APEL.C is 30% of the total graduating credits of a specific programme of study.
